Sondra Schwetman’s sculptural and installation works address themes of women’s issues, cultural change, and contemporary miasma. Her practice engages with a wide range of materials, from fiber, to bronze, to found objects, and has developed along two lines: fiber-based clothing construction, and figuratively-based sculptural work. Both bodies of work show a sustained interested in themes of the bodily and dialogue between the figurative and the abstract. In her most recent work, Schwetman is focusing on issues such as war, and serving witness to our historic times of social upheaval.
