BA, Art History, 2009

Cynthia came to SSU and pursued a degree in Art History.  During her time at SSU, she enrolled in courses in Arts Management and Gallery and Museum Methods.  Hoping to gain more “hands on” practical experience, she was hired as an intern at the University Art Gallery where she learned how to pack and transport artwork, and how to mount art installations in a professional art gallery.  After graduation from SSU in 2009, she completed her graduate studies at San Francisco State University, where she earned a Master’s degree in Museum Studies, with an emphasis in Collections Management.

Since then, she has served in several professional roles in the museum field such a curatorial assistant at the di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art; research assistant for The Jay DeFeo Trust (now The Jay DeFeo Foundation); a collections management consultant for numerous private clients, and a research assistant for Artists’ Legacy Foundation. Currently, she serves as the Foundation’s Director of Collections and Archives, where she oversees research and exhibition planning, development of new scholarship and public programming, and gallery representation for Legacy Artist Viola Frey.
