About
The University Art Gallery enriches the campus and surrounding communities through exhibitions, publications, and public programs featuring modern and contemporary artists of regional, national, and international significance. It also showcases the work of Sonoma State art faculty and hosts annual student exhibitions each spring.
Opened in 1978, the gallery offers nearly 2,500 square feet of exhibition space and has presented museum-quality solo and group exhibitions spanning experimental installations, multimedia works, and traditional art forms. It also publishes exhibition materials, hosts artist talks and special events, and presents the annual Art from the Heart benefit auction, which supports gallery programs.
As a teaching facility, the gallery provides hands-on experience in museum and gallery practices and arts administration for Art History, Art Studio, and students across disciplines.
