One of the highlights of the University Art Gallery’s program is the annual presentation of the Juried Student Exhibition, which opens Thursday, November 7th, with a public reception from 4:00 - 6:00 pm. The exhibition will be on view through Saturday, Dec. 14th, 2024.
The work in the exhibition is selected by two jurors from the professional art world who visit the campus to view the work and talk to the students about their careers and ideas about art. This year's jurors are Chris Grunder, Director of Bass & Reiner Gallery; and Jiovanny Soto, Artist and Lecturer in Art at San Francisco State University.
The Juried Student Exhibition features original artwork by current SSU Students in a variety of media, such as painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, drawing, and mixed media, which reflects courses offered in the art studio program at Sonoma State as well as the students’ own individual creativity.
Additional programming: Join the Juror’s Talk, 12:05 - 12:50 pm, on Oct. 31st, in Art Room 108.
The jurors will hold a lively discussion about their careers in the professional art world and about the jurying process.
