The SSU Art Collection's primary focus is modern and contemporary art, created approximately 1900 to the present day. Artists represented include modern greats such as Salvador Dali, Robert Indiana, and Andy Warhol. Recent additions to the collection by contemporary artists such as Takashi Murakami, Lorna Simpson, and Kara Walker have brought increased diversity and variety to SSU's art holdings. The modern and contemporary artworks in the collection are in a variety of media: included are many paintings, prints and works on paper, and also limited multimedia works, ceramics, and sculpture.
