Día de Los Muertos Community Altar
The University Art Gallery invites you to participate in our inaugural Ofrenda Comunitaria para el Día de Los Muertos (Día de los Muertos Community Altar). This week-long celebration will take place from October 28 to November 1, honoring the rich traditions of Día de los Muertos, a time to remember and celebrate the lives of our loved ones who have passed. Día de los Muertos is a celebration deeply rooted in Mesoamerican culture, recognized globally as a time to honor the cyclical nature of life and death. We invite everyone to participate in this joyous tradition.

Community Altar: Experience a beautifully curated altar featuring artwork and offerings from students, faculty, staff, and community members, created in collaboration with legendary artist Peter Perez and SSU Lecturer in Art Studio, Eileen Parent.

Visit & Add to Our Altar: Our community altar will be open for all to visit from October 28 to November 1, between 10 AM and 4 PM. We encourage you to bring photos or momentos of loved ones and join us in making colorful flowers for our altar— supplies will be available!

Artist Talk and Workshop: Join us on November 1 for an engaging multi-generational conversation and Papel Picado (cut paper flags) workshop with Peter Perez, from 12 PM to 1 PM, where we’ll explore the significance of this vibrant tradition. Lunch will be served!
All of these events are free and have been co-sponsored with the support of The HUB Cultural Center and The Center for the Arts.

Ofrenda Comunitaria para el Día de Los Muertos
La Galería de Arte de la Universidad Estatal de Sonoma les invita a participar en nuestra Ofrenda Comunitaria para el Día de los Muertos. Esta celebración se llevará a cabo del 28 de Octubre al 1 de Noviembre. El Día de los Muertos es un momento para recordar y celebrar las vidas de nuestros seres queridos que han fallecido. Además, es una celebración profundamente arraigada en la cultura Mesoamericana y conocida mundialmente como una ocasión para honrar la naturaleza cíclica de la vida y la muerte. Invitamos a todos a participar en esta alegre tradición.

Altar comunitario: creado por el artista legendario Peter Perez y la profesora de Arte Estudio de SSU, Eileen Parent, en colaboración con estudiantes, profesores y personal de la universidad, y miembros de la comunidad.

Visite y colabore con nuestro altar: Nuestro altar comunitario estará abierto para que todos lo visiten del 28 de Octubre al 1 de Noviembre, entre 10 am y 4 pm. Le invitamos a compartir fotografías o recuerdos de sus seres queridos y a participar en la elaboracion de flores coloridas para nuestro altar. ¡Habrá suministros de arte disponibles!

Charla y taller de arte: Únase a nuestra conversación multigeneracional y al taller de Papel Picado el 1 de Noviembre, con el artista Peter Perez, de 12:00 a 1:00 pm. En esta plática conversaremos sobre el significado de esta bella tradición. ¡El almuerzo será servido!
